International Trader Manager for Fairtrade flowers

International Trader Manager for Fairtrade flowers

Your tasks:

  • Reporting to the Global Product Manager for Fairtrade flowers, you build strong collaboration/partnership with key international flower traders all over the world with a focus on the destination markets in Europe and USA/Canada. You extend the relationships with traders and gain them to buy and sell increasingly more Fairtrade flowers to their international costumers.
  • You will develop and implement a strategy on how to reach better the European florist market with Fairtrade flowers.
  • You support the Global Product Manager for Fairtrade flowers and Product Managers working at national Fairtrade Organizations with implementing their growth strategies via developing global opportunities / international retailers, support in major stakeholder meetings, sharing information on cut flower market trends and patterns, supply management risks and solutions and other relevant topics.
  • You identify and explore collaboration opportunities with other flower sustainability schemes and organizations and you are present at international flower trade shows and represent on industrial platforms, roundtables, relevant networking in the northern markets.
  • You support all internal stakeholders in key strategic projects with thematic support and input from your work area.
  • You are a champion of Fairtrade certification and its strengths in the context of certification and sustainability schemes. You are keeping all stakeholders up to date on relevant developments with other schemes.
  • You are in close contact and give information to traders on media developments concerning Fairtrade flowers and support stakeholder (trader) trips.

Your profile:

  • Experience essential minimum 5-10 years’ in global cut flower industry
  • Proven extensive knowledge of all Fairtrade flower growing origins
  • Thorough understanding of Fairtrade and global Fairtrade flowers
  • Extensive understanding of key risks, challenges and opportunities in the industry
  • Extensive knowledge of cut flower industry certification and sustainability schemes
  • Experience of working in international development
  • Proven negotiation abilities and business acumen
  • Proven experience in autonomous way of working and setting priorities
  • Fluent English and Dutch, Spanish an advantage
